The first conceptual design of Sepura, called Sepurator at the time, is born.
First Proof of Concept
The idea of a sustainable garbage disposal system began with this proof of concept.
Our first prototype of Sepura, Alpha 1, is created.
Testing and Iterations
We tested many concepts and introduced the collection center.
The Second Prototype
We improved the separator component significantly.
More Testing, Validation, and Iterations
Feature validation and heavy testing period began. Hundreds of parts were made. Everything was pushed to the limit of breaking.
Alpha Testing Program 1
Conceptual designs were considered for the collection centre, and low volume manufacturing began for the alpha testing program.
Sepura’s First Public Appearance
Alpha 3 made its first appearance in the public at the BC Tech Summit, 2019.
Back to the Drawing Board
The BC Tech Summit & early testers provided us with lots of feedback which brought us back to the drawing board.
Community Integration & Tech Development
We learned a lot about regulations and the food waste world, which allowed us to learn how to stop odors from escaping our collection center.
Closed System Prototype (Alpha 4)
Alpha 4 had a much higher water/solids separation and eliminated odors.
Alpha Testing Program 2
Further testing and improvements were made. Higher quality, low volume manufacturing began for Alpha 4.
The ergonomics of the collection center were improved and tested.
Beta 1 (Soft Tool Production)
Beta 1 is created to address the wants and needs of our testers. We designed this beta unit with direct user feedback front of mind.
Beta 1 Debuts at CES
Sepura’s second public appearance, this time with Beta 1, takes place in Las Vegas at CES. Sepura won numerous awards from the likes of CNET and Engadget.
Feature Validation Period
Pre-orders open and we received feedback from thousands of people about the features they would like Sepura to have. This began the design of Beta 2.
More design, Refining, and Optimizing
After speaking with thousands of interested people, we optimized Sepura to be more compact so that it can fit even more kitchens, gave it a more ergonomic design, and incorporated higher quality materials at the same price.
Final Pre-Production Run
A handful of Sepura units have been manufactured to ensure the components of the final design are perfect.
Design for Manufacturing
The commercial-ready manufacturing design is ready for production.
Tooling & Certification
Tooling has been set up at scale, and our manufacturing process is certified.
We will test and optimize the assembly of Sepura at scale.
Production Begins & Pre-Orders Ship
The day we’ve all been waiting for! Pre-ordered units will start being shipped out.
